Dough Bowls

For Mixing dough for bread making, or biscuits

The Dough Bowls were originally made for the housewife to use in the kitchen for preparing the dough for bread making or for the traditional biscuit making process

The Thompson Dough Bowls are made from two of the three food safe woods which grow in the United States - Tulip poplar, or water tupelo, and are guaranteed not to flavor dough, or any cooking material used in the bowls. The bowls shown above are made from the Tulip Poplar tree which grows in great abundance in the North Florida area, and are oiled with Olive Oil to protect the bowl when being used. They can be washed, dried and then oiled lightly with olive oil, and will last for a hundred years if they are taken care of.

The bowls are made in a variety of sizes from 16 inches long, like the middle bowl, to 28 inches long, similar to the outside two bowls. The width can vary from 9 inches to 14 inches, and end handles can be made on the bowls.

These Bowls are not lathe made, but roughed out with a hand adze, scraped with a scraper, and then sanded to a smooth finish. They are totally dried before they leave our shop.
