Granny's Olde Time Crafts
![]()
Yep, Granny says "come in and set a spell and you can see her wares." It shore does seem complicated when you see the things she does, but she learned from the best teacher in the world --experience.
From her World Famous Crazy shirts, quilting,
bonnets, dolls,
tatting, crocheting and sewing in general, Granny will amaze you with what you see.
If you press her enough, Granny will spill a yarn or two, along with various other tidbits of information that you shore need to take home with you.
Sewing all her life, Granny learned the art of Tatting
and Quilting from her mother, and if you ask her she will tell you a good sto
ry about the way in which the tatting process
was fixed in her brain.
Granny's crazy shirts are perhaps a story within itself.
They are made of flannel material, and each piece of the shirt is cut and sewed together.
No two pieces of material in the shirt are the same color. She has been making these
shirts for years on end, and has became
famous for this style of shirts. Of course nothing good ever stays in one place. One man
and his wife told us that they saw a similar shirt, except it was all dyed and not
separate pieces that had been cut and sewed. They also said it was made by a company
called "Needless Markup" and sold for $40.00 at a department store. Of course,
Granny couldn't believe what they told her, because she sells her shirts for only $19.00.
Granny has a
bunch of kids, yep, she calls them her children. They are
the prettiest bunch of Angels you have ever seen, ranging from the big skirts with bonnets
to the Indian Maidens. She crochets them in just about every color you could imagine, and
just about ever style of dress that could ever be thought of. These Angels are
guaranteed to compliment any decor you have in your house, and will be treasured for
years.
Although Christmas comes only once a year, Granny Adams
works some a
ll
the year long doing old time Christmas Ornaments, crochet snowflakes, Santa's Booties,
Wreaths and Christmas Angels. These ornaments make any Christmas Tree special with the
homespun flavor. Sizes from 2" to 4".
Tatting--This is unbelievable! Some people just make
small items with tatting, but
this woman
makes tatting in lace form yards in length. Do you realize that there around 2 billion
knots tied for you to get a yard of tatting? Perhaps some of the longest lengths of
this work that we've seen.
